Difficulties with sleep are increasingly common in the modern world. Most people have experienced sleep problems at some stage. For some this is quickly resolved, however for many it becomes long term. Lack of sleep affects all aspects of our lives including our mental well-being, ability to concentrate at work and to cope with our day to day activities.
The need for sleep varies for each individual but on average an adult requires 7-9 hours per night. Over 65’s require 7-8 hours. Most people recognise how much sleep they need in order to function at their best the following day. However what is less well known is how our lifestyle during the day, our evening routines and our sleep habits impact on how we sleep.
